Creative Evaluation Calls for Creative Evaluators
A. Rafael Johnson and I have been finding creative ways to bring our talents together to make the world a better place. [Because we have to. Because we care. Because there is no other choice.] The blending of my passion for principles-focused developmental evaluation and his artistic talents yielded something new, something we're calling Creative Evaluation.
Creative Evaluation is principles-focused arts-infused developmental evaluation for social justice. A lot of words, I know, but they are all important. They describe evaluation guided by deeply held values and shared principles. Evaluation that positions the arts as an essential way of knowing and communicating. Evaluation that supports innovative change through uncertain terrain, with an unwavering commitment to making the world more just. Evaluation that is an integral part of the collaborative and co-creative process. Evaluation that is creative so it can guide and inspire no matter where the developmental journey leads.
We recently wrote a piece called "The Calling of Creative Evaluators", inspired by a passage in Michael Quinn Patton's 1981 book, Creative Evaluation. Click here to read.
